Seating for Task Performance
Often, assessment of a child is focused at ONE particular
moment of time. This one moment can dictate the type of equipment
prescribed, or, more unfortunately, not prescribed. Adequate
seating for task performance is critical, and is not generally
provided for children to develop consistent access to be independent
in performing tasks.

A Process for Addressing Challenging
Behaviors for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
This training will provide participants with a framework for
addressing challenging behaviors sometimes exhibited by people
with ASD. Participants will learn how to reframe their thinking
in addressing challenging behaviors exhibited by a person with
ASD by understanding the behavior as a feature or characteristic
of the person's neurobiological disability of ASD. A particular
focus on identifying positive behavioral support strategies
to prevent the occurrence of challenging behaviors in people
with ASD will be given as best practices behavior intervention
programs. It is important for participants to consider that
there is no single/standard way to address challenging behaviors
sometimes exhibited in people with ASD. Rather, each behavioral
intervention plan should be designed to meet the individualized
interests, needs, learning styles, and processing skills of
the person with ASD.
